Mindfulness in Nature: Cloud

Such a familiar sight. Clouds coming and going. Drifting lazily through the sky. A cloud can at times obscure the open sky and yet is itself a part of the sky. Like clouds, our thoughts can obfuscate the openness of the mind. A dark cloud may seem like a dark sky, but rise above it and there is an incandescent clarity. Weather happens in the climate but can be mistaken for the climate. In the state of flow we come to realize that we are not our concepts. Not our feelings, or urges but the open air in which they come and go. Never has there been an idea that has taken on such solidity that it did not drift through the sky of the mind. Freedom comes when we relinquish the identity with thought and rest wide open in the vast sky of the mind.
